Wine Glasses & Glassware

One of the toughest parts of moving comes from packing fragile and delicate pieces such as glassware. When you want to get your glassware from here to there in one piece, you need to take proper precaution. Fortunately, this simply comes down to picking the right packing materials — and plenty of them.

Pick Up Paper for Packing

What kind of paper to pack glassware? It really doesn’t matter. You can purchase packing paper, or rolls of butcher paper, but even newspaper gets the job done. The only drawback with newspaper and magazines is the possibility of ink rubbing off on your glassware items. Odds are you were planning to wash them as part of the unpacking process, anyway. Just find whatever paper works for you and make sure you have plenty of it. Skimping on paper while packing glassware is pointless. And for a little extra cushion…

Raid Your Linen Closet

Old rags, dish or hand towels are perfect when it comes to providing extra padding, whether along the bottom, sides, or over the top of carefully wrapped glassware. Use what you have to ensure that the glassware inside each box is extra secure. Even lining the interior sides of your boxes with the added cushion of a towel can help keep your glassware snug as you shuttle it from one location to the next.

Padding is the Name of the Game

Although it’s possible to buy moving boxes intended specifically for glassware, especially stemware, just taking the time to make sure that whatever box you use has enough padding around each glassware item should suffice. Wrapping individual items in paper and then adding the extra support of stronger linens like rags or towels should be enough to ensure that your glassware arrives at your new home in one piece.

Of course, if you’d rather not risk packing and moving your glassware yourself, just give our team a call. We’re happy to assist you so that your belongings stay safe and you can enjoy some peace of mind as you relocate from one home to the next.
