Is there anything better than New Hampshire’s foliage in the fall? The autumn colors are beautiful, and it can be so much fun to take some time to really enjoy the weather and the views. Luckily, there are also tons of places in New Hampshire where you can do just that!
Mount Washington
Mount Washington feels like a gimme, but it really is one of the best places to get some fall foliage views. It’s Northeast’s largest peak, and during warmer weather, you can hike up or drive up for some amazing scenery. Just be prepared if you’ve decided to hike!
Kancamagus Highway
The Kancamagus Scenic Byway, aka “The Kanc” is one of the most beautiful drives in NH. It’s nearly thirty-five miles and cuts through White Mountain National Forest. Those forest views are spectacular and nearly uninterrupted since there’s nothing along the highway. You won’t find any restaurants, gas stations, or businesses throughout the highway. It’s just you and the view.
Warren Recreational Rail Trail
If you’re looking for a shorter route that you can walk or bike and enjoy, the Warren trail in Warren, NH might be the perfect option for you. It’s only four miles long, and on top of the awesome fall foliage views, there’s a 70 foot Redstone Rocket at the end. This is an actual NASA rocket, which is a cool way to finish a trip.
Loon Mountain
Another place with perfect fall foliage views is Loon Mountain. There are tons of activities available there such as biking and caves to explore (though, full disclosure: the caves aren’t open right now). Most importantly, you have the scenic Gondola ride up the mountain. A little over a mile long, the Gondola ride provides an amazing opportunity to see some beautiful views. It’s actually the longest scenic Gondola ride in New Hampshire too.
Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad
If you hop on the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad from Meredith, it takes you on a two hour trip around Winnipesaukee. Not only do you get some beautiful water views, but you also get some amazing foliage sights. The train runs on weekends during the fall, and you can buy tickets in advance.
Fall is really the season to spend some time at New Hampshire’s best foliage sites. You should definitely check out the foliage tracker too! Are there any places you love to go to enjoy the fall foliage? Let us know below!
